FAQ's

Q. What are the benefits of using a balloon over conventional lighting?
Glare free 360 degree illumination. Balloons have a soft quality of light. No squinting!
One balloon is more efficient than multiple conventional lights. 1 x 2kw balloon vs 4 x 1kw conventional lights to light 360°. Therefore the balloons require less power than the conventional lights - economical and less greenhouse emission.
Balloons are visually interesting vs conventional lighting options.
They are decorative and can reinforce your branding with the use of logos.
Balloons are quicker to install. They have less structural requirement (eg. trusses).
Q. Are balloon lights safe?
Yes they are. The inbuilt safety system will detect any loss of pressure in the envelope and if so will automatically switch off the lights. The balloon envelope is made from a non flammable, rip stop material. They are not hot to touch. They are air inflated and run very quietly.
Q. Can balloons be used in bad weather?
The balloons can withstand rain, snow and wind (wind speed dependent on model) with an IP index rating of 44 - 54 dependent on the product. More information can be supplied from the product technical data sheet.
They have been used in snowy sub zero temperatures through to arid and dusty deserts.
Q. How much do they cost to hire? What is included?
Balloons can be hired for one day or longer periods of time. We will discuss your event and customise a lighting/branding solution for each project. Costs include balloons, stands, cabling, set-up, removal.
We ask for a 25% deposit at the time of booking, 25% one month prior and issue a 7 day invoice on completion.
Balloons are also available for sale - eg. permanent lit sign at a restaurant or hotel.
Q. Do I need to supply the logo?
We print and attach logos to the balloons from your artwork. This is an additional cost which is dependent on the complexity of the design.
Q. Are the lights insured?
The client is responsible for the security of the equipment that we supply and will be rsponsible for any loss or damage. You should confirm that this is covered by your insurance.
Q. Can you help with other aspects of my event?
We are happy to help where possible. If not, we can probably help with contact suggestions.
Q. Can I set the balloons up myself? Do they have special power requirements?
No. We prefer to ensure the success and safety of your lighting requirements by setting-up and removing the balloons.
Q. Do they have special power requirements?
The balloons can plug into normal household power points. For events with more complicated set-ups, we can assist with cabling and power distribution solutions.
The client must ensure a 24/7 constant power supply, this is for the air inflation system even if the light is not required to be on.
Q. How far in advance do I need to book balloon hire?
We appreciate as much lead-time as possible. However, depending on the requirement, we are able to respond quickly to most requests. Ideally, a month or more is recommended.
Q. Should I use an air filled or helium filled balloon?
There are advantages and disadvantages to both:
Helium - can operate at greater height, can light up a larger area due to the height, in Australia helium is expensive, helium balloons may be problematic in wind, helium balloons are ideal in large indoor venues where conventional rigging is not possible
Air filled - better wind resistance, more cost effective versus helium, quick to install.
